Dear Sheriff Howser:

On December 28, 2011, I submitted an Open Records Request to Wabaunsee County Clerk Jennifer Savage for copies of the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s year-end property inventory for the years of 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998.

When I received Mrs. Savage’s response to my request, she indicated that she was able to locate the year-end inventory list for the years 1993, 1994 and 1998, and provided me with copies of the same. However, she stated that she was unable to locate the inventory lists for the years 1995, 1996 or 1997.

Therefore, pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act, I hereby request copies of the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s year-end property inventory for the missing years, 1995, 1996, and 1997. Such inventory list shall include, but is not limited to, all weapons and other equipment stored in the sheriff’s evidence locker and or office/department.

Pursuant to K.S.A. 45-218 (d), I request that this information be provided “as soon as possible, but not later than the end of the third business day” following the date of this request. In addition, and also pursuant to K.S.A. 45-218 (d), “If the request for access is denied, the custodian shall provide, upon request, a written statement of the grounds for denial. Such statement shall cite the specific provision of law under which access is denied and shall be furnished to the requester not later than the end of the third business day following the date that the request for the statement is received.”
